Shameem and Ammar met each other while set up on a blind date by Shameem's sister. That blind date turned into a lifelong commitment to love each other unconditionally. When I was asked to photograph their engagement dinner I was excited to learn that they would be having a traditional muslim engagement ceremony that symbolized their intentions for marriage. The ceremony took place at a family members house in Fairfield. This was the first time I've ever photographed a celebration of this kind so I wasn't sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of thoughtfulness and love the family had for Shameem and Ammar and the love they had for each other.
Following a short ceremony, guests enjoyed some sweet treats and tea before heading to Brix in Yountville. We took advantage of that beautiful Napa Valley afternoon light to create some fun portraits of the couple before joining everyone for the cocktail hour. Dinner was enjoyed in the Cottage Room and the night wrapped up with a cake cutting. Islamic engagements are very significant in the process of marriage and are celebrated with style.
Congratulations Shammem and Ammar!
